赣江源国家级自然保护区还主动肩负着科学知识的普及。为了让大家让更好的了解保护区的作用,我们在这里设置了“动物科普园”和“植物科普园”。
保护区内有有野生陆生脊椎动物360种、鱼类16种、昆虫1055种、贝类47种、虾类2种、蟹类1种。
有国家一级保护动物5种,如蟒蛇、白颈长尾雉、云豹等;国家二级保护动物37种,如穿山甲、虎纹蛙、白鹇等。

赣江源自然保护区内陆生脊椎动物共有31目93科221属360种,占全省陆生脊椎动物总种数的56.07%。其中两栖动物有2目8科12属28种,占江西省两栖动物种数(38种)的73.68%;爬行动物有3目11科40属59种,占江西省爬行动物种数(71种)的83.10%;鸟类有18目55科125属214种,占江西省鸟类种数(420种)的50.95%;哺乳动物有8目20科48属59种,占江西省哺乳动物种数(105种)的56.19%。此外,有昆虫1055种,鱼类16种、贝类47种、虾类2种、蟹一种。
其中,两栖类动物中,进入《中国物种红色名录》极危的有大鲵,易危的有脊胸蛙和虎纹蛙。其中大鲵和虎纹蛙为国家二级重点保护动物。爬行动物中进入《中国濒危物种红皮书》的有平胸龟、乌龟、黄喉拟水龟、眼镜王蛇、黑眉锦蛇、鳖、王锦蛇、灰鼠蛇、滑鼠蛇、乌梢蛇、银环蛇、舟山眼镜蛇、尖吻腹、中国水蛇、铅色水蛇等。鸟类中进入《濒危野生动植物种国际贸易公约》附录的有29种,为游隼、白颈长尾雉、黄腹角雉、隼形目(13种)、鸮形目(6种)、画眉、红嘴相思鸟、绿翅鸭、针尾鸭、大白鹭、白鹭、牛背鹭;进入国际自然和自然资源保护联盟(IUCN)名单中易危种(VU)的鸟类有2种,为白颈长尾雉、黄腹角雉;国家重点保护的一级和二级鸟类分别为白颈长尾雉、黄腹角雉和鸳鸯、风头鹰、白鹇、勺鸡、小鸦鹃、褐翅鸦鹃、(白腿)小隼、游隼、草鸮、短耳鸮、斑头鸺鹠、褐林鸮、领鸺鹠、燕隼、红隼、蛇雕、黑冠鹃隼、赤腹鹰、松雀鹰、普通鵟、林雕、鹰雕、黑翅鸢、斑嘴鸭(图1-2-2);被《中国物种红色名录》收入的近危和几近符合近危的鸟类有白颈长尾雉、黄腹角雉、鸳鸯、罗纹鸭、勺鸡、褐翅鸦鹃、小鸦鹃、画眉、红嘴相思鸟、喜鹊、黄胸鹀和麻雀。哺乳动物中进入《濒危野生动植物种国际贸易公约》附录收录的有15种,分别是水獭、金猫、云豹、猕猴、穿山甲、豺、狼、豹猫、大灵猫、小灵猫、青鼬(黄喉貂)、黄鼬、黄腹鼬、花面狸、食蟹獴。国家重点保护的一级和二级动物分别是云豹、穿山甲、齐豺、河麂、水獭、大灵猫、黄喉貂、猕猴、小灵猫、金猫、鬣羚、水鹿。昆虫中进入《国家重点保护野生动物名录》的有2目3科3属,分别是双叉犀金龟、阳彩臂金龟和金裳风蝶,此外,具有重要经济和科学研究价值的昆虫有4目10科13种,分别是桂花蝉、丽叩甲、眼纹斑叩甲、双叉犀金龟、阳彩臂金龟、半目大蚕蛾、乌柏大蚕蛾、金裳风蝶、箭环蝶、双星箭环蝶、大伞弄蝶、中华蜜蜂、双齿多刺蚁。
此外,还有分属2门39科84属的154种真菌。在这些真菌中,多孔菌科、牛肝菌科、侧耳科、灵芝科和红菇科的种类和数量占优势,共有64种属于可食用真菌。
The Gan River Source National Nature Reserve also proactively undertakes the dissemination of scientific knowledge. To help everyone better understand the role of the reserve, we have established an "Animal Science Park" and a "Plant Science Park".
Within the reserve, there are 360 species of wild terrestrial vertebrates, 16 species of fish, 1055 species of insects, 47 species of shellfish, 2 species of shrimp, and 1 species of crab.
There are 5 species of animals protected at the national first-level, such as pythons, white-necked pheasants, and cloud leopards; and 37 species of animals protected at the national second-level, such as pangolins, tiger frogs, and silver pheasants.
According to the "Jiangxi Gan River Source National Nature Reserve Comprehensive Scientific Investigation Collection", the reserve has a total of 31 orders, 93 families, 221 genera, and 360 species of terrestrial vertebrates, accounting for 56.07% of the total number of terrestrial vertebrate species in the province. Among them, there are 2 orders, 8 families, 12 genera, and 28 species of amphibians, accounting for 73.68% of the amphibian species in Jiangxi Province (38 species); reptiles include 3 orders, 11 families, 40 genera, and 59 species, accounting for 83.10% of the reptile species in Jiangxi Province (71 species); birds include 18 orders, 55 families, 125 genera, and 214 species, accounting for 50.95% of the bird species in Jiangxi Province (420 species); mammals include 8 orders, 20 families, 48 genera, and 59 species, accounting for 56.19% of the mammal species in Jiangxi Province (105 species). In addition, there are 1055 species of insects, 16 species of fish, 47 species of shellfish, 2 species of shrimp, and 1 species of crab.
Among amphibians, the giant salamander is listed as critically endangered in the "China Species Red List," while the ridged-back frog and the striped swamp frog are classified as vulnerable. Both the giant salamander and the striped swamp frog are designated as Class II key protected animals by the state. Among reptiles listed in the "Red Data Book of Endangered Species in China" are the flat-headed turtle, common turtle, yellow-throated pond turtle, king cobra, black-browed tree snake, softshell turtle, royal python, grey rat snake, smooth rat snake, black-striped snake, silver ring snake, Zhoushan eye snake, sharp-beaked frog, Chinese water snake, and leaden water snake. In birds, there are 29 species listed in the appendices of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), including the peregrine falcon, Reeves's pheasant, yellow-bellied partridge, 13 species of Accipitridae, 6 species of Strigidae, thrush nightingale, red-billed leiothrix, green-winged duck, needletail duck, great white heron, egret, cattle egret; two species listed as vulnerable (VU) in the IUCN Red List are the Reeves's pheasant and the yellow-bellied partridge; nationally protected Class I and II birds include the Reeves's pheasant, yellow-bellied partridge, and Mandarin duck, Eurasian sparrowhawk, crested ibis, spoon-billed sandpiper, small cuckoo, brown-winged cuckoo, lesser kestrel, greater spotted eagle, peregrine falcon, grass owl, short-eared owl, barred owlet, brown wood owl, collared owlet, swallow falcon, red kite, snake eagle, black-crowned buzzard, red-breasted buzzard, goshawk, common buzzard, forest eagle, imperial eagle, black-winged kite, spot-billed duck (Figure 1-2-2). Birds that are near threatened or nearly meet the criteria for near threatened according to the "China Species Red List" include the Reeves's pheasant, yellow-bellied partridge, Mandarin duck, ruddy shelduck, spoon-billed sandpiper, brown-winged cuckoo, small cuckoo, thrush nightingale, red-billed leiothrix, magpie, yellow-breasted bunting, and sparrow. Among mammals listed in the appendices of the CITES are 15 species: otter, golden cat, clouded leopard, macaque, pangolin, dhole, wolf, leopard cat, jungle cat, small civet (yellow-throated marten), weasel, yellow-throated marten, masked palm civet, crab-eating mongoose. The nationally protected Class I and II animals include the clouded leopard, pangolin, dhole, river deer, otter, large civet, yellow-throated marten, macaque, small civet, golden cat, takin, sambar deer. Among insects listed in the "National Key Protected Wildlife List" are 2 orders, 3 families, 3 genera: rhinoceros beetle, jewelled scarab beetle, and gold-striped butterfly. Additionally, insects with significant economic and scientific research value include 4 orders, 10 families, 13 species: osmanthus cicada, metallic wood-boring beetle, eye-spotted longihorn beetle, rhinoceros beetle, jewelled scarab beetle, Atlas moth, silkworm, gold-striped butterfly, arrowhead butterfly, double star arrowhead butterfly, umbrella butterfly, Apis cerana, digger wasp.
Additionally, there are 154 species of fungi belonging to 84 genera across 39 families and two phyla. Among these fungi, the Polyporaceae, Boletaceae, Pleurotaceae, Ganodermataceae, and Russulaceae families dominate in terms of species and numbers, with a total of 64 species classified as edible fungi.
