"Mountains may not turn, but the water does," "The river flows, yet the rocks remain still," and so it is with life. If the mountains do not come to me, then I will go to them. In cultivating a poetic heart, we find ourselves at the source of the Gan River, in a place called "Stone Retention."
Someone once wrote a poem saying, "Stones retain, stones retain, the waters rush by, the departed are like this." We should proceed step by step, going with the flow.
"Stone Retention" · Ming Dynasty · Zhu Chengyong
Stones retain, stones retain, the waters rush by, the departed are like this.
The years do not wait for me, they rush by in torrents.
At fifty, if one is unknown, they are like strangers among men.
If one does not strive in youth, they will only grow old and sigh.
Alas for Shun and Zhi, their beginnings were no different.
Be cautious, do not lose your way.
